Lucknow, Oct 17 : Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Saturday alleged that fake surveys and social media campaigns were being circulated to portray her party as weak ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab.

In a statement, Mayawati claimed that propaganda was being spread through caste-based media platforms and social media, allegedly using money power to undermine the BSP's position and divert public attention. She described the alleged surveys and polls targeting the party as unfortunate at a time when it was strengthening its organisation and preparing for the elections.

Mayawati said the BSP was focusing on ground-level preparations, including the selection of capable and strong candidates, to improve its electoral prospects in the three states.

She maintained that attempts to weaken the party's image through sponsored surveys and false propaganda during elections were not new. Citing the 2007 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, she said similar claims had been made against the BSP at the time, but the party had gone on to secure an absolute majority and form the government.

Recalling her tenure as Chief Minister, Mayawati said her government had worked to establish the rule of law and govern in accordance with the principle of “Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya” (welfare and happiness for all).

The BSP chief urged party supporters and workers to remain vigilant against what she described as propaganda by opposition parties and casteist elements. She warned that attempts could be made to mislead voters during the elections through tactics such as “Sama, Daam, Danda and Bhed”.

Calling on party workers to intensify their efforts, Mayawati stressed the need to strengthen the organisation and mobilise supporters at the grassroots level ahead of the elections.

The BSP has recently stepped up its organisational activities and election preparations in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab. On October 4, Mayawati held a meeting with senior party leaders in Uttarakhand to review voter lists, the situation following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, candidate selection and election preparedness.

The party is also advancing its candidate selection process in Uttar Pradesh. According to recent reports, the BSP has completed the selection of candidates for several constituencies and is working to finalise its nominees well ahead of the elections.

Mayawati's statement comes amid the circulation of surveys and electoral projections by various media outlets and agencies regarding the 2027 Assembly elections.
